School Admissions in Karachi: When to Apply, Documents, Tests and Open Days

There is no single admission season in Karachi. Each private school picks its own dates, its own entry classes and its own paperwork, and some open and close long before the new session. On 27 October 2026 SchoolNama held 1,528 Karachi campus records, and none of them yet carries a confirmed admission date or an open flag; every one tells parents to contact the campus. So for this guide we went to the schools' own notices instead, and every date below comes from a page or PDF we opened that day.

Which Karachi schools have admissions open? As of 27 October 2026, the clearest open windows we found were at Habib Public School, Habib Public High School and Habib Girls School. Habib Public School lists Grade 1 for 2027-28 as open to boys born between 1 February 2021 and 31 January 2022, with a last date of 20 November 2026 for paper forms and 21 November 2026 online, an assessment on Saturday 28 November 2026 and results due on 8 December 2026. Habib Public High School, its college section, offers an early-bird registration discount on Class XI from 20 October 2026 to 1 January 2027, with assessment batches on 9 and 30 January 2027. Habib Girls School takes Nursery applications online from 15 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 (manual forms from 1 December 2026), lateral applications for Grades 3 to 8 online until 3 April 2027, and Class XI applications until 6 February 2027. Bay View Academy set 27 and 28 October 2026 as the registration days for the first round of its August 2027 intake into Class III, VII and X, with the test on 31 October 2026, and has taken Playgroup applications at The Cove in Clifton on a rolling basis since 24 September 2026.

Other schools moved earlier. Mama Parsi Girls' Secondary School accepted Class I applications for 2027-28 only from 5 to 7 October 2026, alongside a separate sisters-only round whose forms were due on 12 October 2026; its notice says families not contacted by courier before 16 November 2026 should treat the application as rejected, and that the management may call only a limited number for registration in December 2026. BVS Parsi High School's outsider forms had to be dropped at the school on 3 or 4 October 2026 for Grade 1 and on 10 October 2026 for Grade 6 (Cambridge) and Grades 6 to 8 (AKUEB), and both notices warn that late applications will not be entertained. At the other end, Karachi Grammar School's admissions page on 27 October 2026 still showed a notice saying admissions for 2025 were closed and asking parents to check back in December 2025 for the year beginning in August 2026; we found no 2027-28 notice on the KGS admissions page we opened that day. The City School says registration stays open all year but does not guarantee a seat, and Generation's School's homepage still pointed to its 2026 admissions guide.

When should parents apply? The dates differ widely: Bay View Academy's Playgroup applications began on 24 September 2026, Mama Parsi and BVS Parsi took forms between 3 and 12 October, Habib Girls School opened online forms on 15 October, Habib Public High School's early-bird window began on 20 October, and Bay View Academy's Class III, VII and X registration fell on 27 and 28 October. The earliest windows, at Mama Parsi and BVS, had closed by mid-October, so start checking school sites in September. Mama Parsi's standing procedure says its Class I circular goes up every year by the first fortnight of October, while applications for Class II onwards are invited in the last week of April and a test is held only if a vacancy arises. Age decides the entry class, and several schools publish their own birth-date range: Bay View Academy's Playgroup takes children born between 1 May 2025 and 30 April 2026, and Habib Girls School's Nursery takes children born between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024. Sindh's school calendar has been reported in different ways during 2026. Business Recorder reported on 13 February 2026 that the province's new academic year would commence on 1 April 2026. ProPakistani reported on 28 February 2026, citing a Steering Committee meeting chaired by the education minister, that the 2026-27 year would begin on 1 April and that admissions up to Class 9 would remain open from 1 to 31 March 2026, with Class 11 admissions under the Central Admission Policy from 1 June until the last week of July 2026. On 31 July 2026, however, the Express Tribune described 1 August, when schools reopened after the summer break, as the start of the 2026-27 academic year, and its 30 July report said a six-day week would apply to public and private institutions under the School Education and Literacy Department from that date. We could not find the department's own notification settling the start date, so confirm any government school's admission dates with the school or district office.

Are tests and interviews common? Every school whose pages described its process used an assessment, an interview or both, and the format shifts with the child's age. Bay View Academy's Playgroup process has no formal assessment of the child; both parents are interviewed and the child comes along. Habib Girls School's Nursery assessment looks at cognitive, verbal and social abilities without a written test, while Habib Public School's Grade 1 assessment is a one-hour session, and both parents must attend a separate interview without the child. From Class I onwards, The City School sets a half-hour written paper covering English, Urdu and Mathematics, which children pass at 50%, and it interviews both parents. Bay View Academy's Class III, VII and X test is built on the first-term curriculum of the child's current class, and its Senior Section page says roughly 10% to 12% of Class VII and Class X applicants are offered a place. For Class XI, Habib Public High School asks for at least 70%, or an equivalent result, in Matric or O Levels, and applicants below that can submit a reconsideration application; Habib Girls School asks for at least 60%. What documents will you need? Our checklist of admission documents (/news/school-admission-documents-pakistan) already covers the KGS and Habib Girls School lateral lists, so here are the Karachi demands that went further. Habib Public School's Grade 1 list asks for attested copies of the NADRA birth certificate, B-form and Family Registration Certificate, a recent 7 x 5 family photograph, the vaccination record and photocopies of the last three years' results. BVS Parsi wants photocopies of both parents' degrees, the parents' marriage certificate and an NTN certificate, and rejects forms where the child's name, surname and father's name differ across NADRA documents. Mama Parsi's Class I list includes the hospital birth certificate, the mother's hospital discharge card and copies of all of both parents' academic certificates. For Class III, VII and X, Bay View Academy says both parents must come to registration with their original CNICs (sibling families may bring the BVA ID card instead), and only parents carrying every listed document may register. Habib Girls School, by contrast, collects Nursery documents only after a seat is confirmed.

Where can parents find open days? Not on a fixed calendar, as far as we could tell. SchoolNama's events file has no Karachi open days, and none of the school pages we read on 27 October 2026 announced a dated open day for 2027-28. Habib Girls School runs a campus-tour request form covering Nursery to Class 12, and The City School's admissions page offers a link to book a tour, so the practical route is to ask each school directly for a visit before its window closes.

Because seats are limited, apply to more than one school. Bay View Academy's own notice recommends exactly that, and its first round puts strong but unselected candidates on a waiting list for a second round.
