School Fees in Rawalpindi: Published Rates, One-Off Charges and a First-Year Budget
Few Rawalpindi schools put a price online. On 9 October 2026 we re-opened the official figures we could find, from free government places and TCF's sliding scale to Siddeeq Public School's 2026-27 sheet; Cadet College Rawalpindi's boarding charge comes from an archived April 2026 copy of its fee page, because the live page is down. We then built two first-year budgets and a list of questions for any fee office.
Short answer
Official Rawalpindi figures are scarce. Government schools charge no fee to class ten, board dues aside, TCF's undated FAQ gives Rs 10-250 a month, and Siddeeq Public School's 2026-27 sheet sets tuition at Rs 9,500 a month plus a Rs 9,500 admission fee. Cadet College Rawalpindi's archived April 2026 fee page listed Rs 36,000 a month including boarding. The chain and cantonment schools we checked post no rates.
How we researched this: On 9 October 2026 we opened the fee, admission and policy pages of Siddeeq Public School, Cadet College Rawalpindi (live page down, so we read the Internet Archive copy of 16 April 2026), Roots International Schools & Colleges, The City School, Beaconhouse's Harley Street branch page, JS Public School & College and the APSACS Secretariat; two BISE Rawalpindi Class 9 notices; the Punjab 1984 Ordinance and 2014 Act; Punjab Education Foundation and TCF pages; and reports in The News, ProPakistani and The Nation. We drew the bands ourselves, did the sums ourselves and left out every fee-listing website.
In Rawalpindi, talk about school costs tends to stop at the monthly tuition figure, which is a single line among many on a first-year bill. A child's first year also brings an admission fee, sometimes a deposit, charges collected once a year, board registration in Class 9, a book list, a uniform and the daily trip to school. We spent 9 October 2026 trying to pin each of these to an official document for Rawalpindi. The honest result is that very few schools here publish a price, so this page shows the handful that do, labels every figure with its session and source, and gives parents a way to build the rest from the school's own paperwork. Our guide /news/low-fee-schools-in-rawalpindi goes deeper on budget routes, and /rawalpindi maps the campuses we hold.
The free tier is set by law. At a school run by the provincial government or a local authority, section 3(3) of Punjab's 2014 Act leaves parents owing nothing at all, be it fee, charge or expense, for a child's schooling there. Board dues for Class 9, set out below, are separate: the board still charges Rs 1,750 per government-school pupil. Who counts is settled by section 2, which applies the promise to a child 'from the age of five to sixteen years', so a pupil past sixteen falls outside it. Books are included too. On 3 April 2026 The Nation said Punjab had started handing 30 million textbooks to government-school pupils at no cost for the new year. Punjab Education Foundation partner schools are the second free route. The Foundation's FAQ bars its assisted schools from taking money from an enrolled pupil 'in whatsoever form' and lists admission and registration charges among the banned items; the voucher FAQ applies the same bar to card holders and leaves trips and activities to parental consent. Fee-charging schools are not exempt either. Section 13 expects a school that takes no state aid to reserve one seat in ten in every class, starting at class one, for children educated free, or else to supply prescribed vouchers instead. A committee of the provincial assembly, according to a Nation report of 28 July 2026, gave Punjab's private schools ten days to comply and wanted defaulters' licences cancelled.
One step above free is The Citizens Foundation. TCF's US arm lists a Dhoke Chaudrian campus in Rawalpindi, and its undated FAQ describes 'a nominal monthly tuition fee on a sliding scale, between Rs. 10 to Rs. 250 per month', with uniforms and books at no cost for families who cannot afford to pay. The amount is agreed with each household, so the only way to know your figure is to ask the campus.
In the private day-school market, the clearest Rawalpindi sheet we found belongs to Siddeeq Public School, which teaches Grades 6 to 12 on 6th Road and 5th Road in Satellite Town and also runs an Islamabad campus. Its single 2026-27 sheet, which does not split rates by campus, sets an admission fee of Rs 9,500 'to be paid once at the time of admission' and tuition of Rs 9,500 per month 'to be paid bimonthly (two months fee)'. The schedule runs from March 2026 to February 2027 in six payments: Rs 28,500 on 12 March 2026 for admission plus March and April, then Rs 19,000 every two months, with the next one due by 12 October 2026 and the last by 11 January 2027. The sheet also states 'NO CONCESSION at all in School fee on the basis of kinship', offers a full fee waiver to pupils whose father dies while they are enrolled, and the school's admission policy says no fee is charged for the entrance test. Its scholarship sheet promises a 100% fee scholarship to Grade 8 entrants scoring 85% or more in that test, continuing to F.Sc. if set marks are kept. The 2026-27 intake has closed (the entry test was on 22 February 2026), so treat the sheet as this session's price, not an open offer.
Most other names parents shortlist do not publish rates. At The City School, the price arrives late in the process: its admissions page lists a 'Relevant Fee structure slip' among the papers handed over once a family has filled in the form and paid to register. Beaconhouse's Harley Street branch page carries no fee figures. Roots International Schools & Colleges lists, network-wide, what is due on admission (a registration fee and an admission fee, both marked non-refundable, a refundable security fee, tuition 'payable bimonthly' and an annual resource charge 'payable once a year and at the time of admission') and says tuition is 'payable on 12 calendar month basis', but gives no amounts. JS Public School & College in Chaklala, in a January 2026 admissions guide on its own site, says its fee structure 'typically includes admission fee, security (refundable), tuition, and miscellaneous charges', with concessions for military families, and that 'Exact 2026 fees will be detailed in the prospectus.' We found no fee schedule on the APSACS Secretariat site for Army Public Schools, and the fee re-calculation page of Punjab's School Education Department covers Lahore district. Sites that quote monthly rates for Rawalpindi cantonment and chain schools are not official, rarely give a session, and we have not repeated them.
At the top of the published range is a boarding option. Cadet College Rawalpindi, on Chakri Road, listed a monthly fee of Rs 36,000 that 'includes tuition, messing, hostel, laundry, barber, sports and club charges', and said the yearly fee 'is uniformly divided into 12 months equally', 'immaterial of the holiday period'. One-time charges were Rs 50,000: a Rs 40,000 admission fee and a Rs 10,000 security deposit, 'refundable only if a cadet leaves the college after completion of one academic session'. A seat in the foreign resident student quota carried an extra charge: 'Rs. 20,000/= will be additionally charged'. Books, stationery, uniform and bedding were 'provided on payment through the college shop', with no prices given, and the page warned that the 'Fee structure/allied charges are subject to revision'. The fee block itself carried no session; the same page's banner advertised 'Admissions Open for Class 7th, 8th & 9th (Session 2026-27)' with classes from 6 April 2026, which is why we treat it as the 2026-27 rate. The college's live admission portal now lists paying 'the admission processing fee' as one of its steps but gives no amount. When we tried the live page on 9 October 2026 it returned a site error, so these figures come from the Internet Archive's copy of 16 April 2026; ask the college to confirm them.
Of the Rawalpindi documents we opened, none puts a rupee figure on books, uniform or the school run. Siddeeq posts a Grade 6 to 8 book list (Oxford Progressive English plus National Book Foundation Mathematics, Science and Urdu) and a uniform specification, but no prices; Grade 6 pupils also need two notebooks per subject 'Impressed with School Insignia'. Roots International says students must also, 'if applicable', pay at admission for a computerised ID card, annual fees, an Early Years branded bag, a badge, ICT costs and lab fees. We did not find a bus or van rate on any school page we opened. Parents can buy wherever they like: the Ordinance's section 7A(10) forbids a school to insist on one 'shop or provider' for books or clothing. In May 2025 The News reported Rawalpindi and Islamabad parents complaining about admission charges, security deposits, lab, exam and maintenance fees, and one parent said families were forced to buy uniforms and textbooks 'only available through the school itself'. For the school run, compare the school's own vehicles with private vans; ask any van owner and the school for a written monthly price for your route.
Rawalpindi lies in Punjab, so the fee limits that bind its private schools come from the province's 1984 Ordinance. Where a class pays Rs 4,000 or more a month, section 7A of the Ordinance holds next year's rise to 5%; a school may apply for more, and the law's wording lets the Registering Authority grant as much as eight per cent, yet official statements since then point lower. In 2020, according to The News of 7 July, the department assured the Lahore High Court that an 8 percent notification had been changed to 5 percent to follow a 2019 Supreme Court ruling. In July 2026, ProPakistani wrote, officials informed an Assembly committee that yearly increases cannot go past '4% to 5%' and that the base fee is outside their power to fix. Two more clauses matter at admission time: 7A(8) caps an admission fee or a security at one month's tuition, and 7A(9) treats laboratory, library and every other sum a school collects as part of its fee. Siddeeq's admission fee, for example, equals exactly one month of its tuition. In the wording of section 13(d) of the 2014 law, a school's permitted heads are tuition, admission and prescribed security; a 'building fund', or the same thing renamed, is not on that list.
Class 9 adds a board bill. For pupils entering Class 9 in 2026, the Rawalpindi board's notice of 29 April 2026 asked Rs 2,750 a head, made up of Rs 1,000 each for registration and processing, Rs 300 each for the development fund and scholarship fee, and Rs 150 for sports. Public-sector schools skipped the registration part, so their pupils owed Rs 1,750. The normal window ran from 25 April to 8 June 2026 and a Rs 600 late-fee window to 23 June, and the board's separate re-admission window at Rs 2,500 closed on 2 October 2026. The notice still allows late registration against daily fines starting at Rs 200, but the terms differ between pupils admitted after the schedule and pupils admitted on time whose registration was missed, so ask the school which rule applies and watch the board's site for the next notices.
A monthly rate alone will not tell you which of two schools costs more over twelve months. Multiply the tuition by the number of bills the school issues, stack on every once-only and once-a-year item plus any board fee, then add what you have been quoted for books, clothes and the journey; a deposit you expect back belongs on its own row. The worksheet below does this for a new Grade 6 pupil at Siddeeq Public School and a new cadet at Cadet College Rawalpindi, the two Rawalpindi schedules we could open that state how many months are billed. Checklist before you decide
- ✓Ask for a printed, dated rate sheet that names the campus and the grade your child will join.
- ✓Write down how many months of tuition are billed in a year, and whether payment is monthly, every two months or by term.
- ✓List each one-time charge separately: registration, entry test, admission, prospectus and ID card.
- ✓Ask whether a security deposit is taken, how much, and the written conditions and timing for getting it back.
- ✓Ask for every yearly charge by name, such as an annual or resource charge, and when it falls due.
- ✓Check whether the admission fee or security is more than one month's tuition, and ask the school to explain if it is.
- ✓Ask what percentage the class fee went up by at the last revision; for tuition of Rs 4,000 a month or above, a jump past 5% requires the regulator's sign-off.
- ✓Cost out the book list, notebooks and a complete uniform yourself, and check that no single seller is required.
- ✓For Class 9, confirm which board the school registers with and the board fee per student.
- ✓Get a written monthly transport price for your address from the school and from at least one private van.
- ✓Ask about sibling, orphan, merit or staff concessions, and whether the school offers any of its free seats under the 2014 Act.
Frequently asked questions
How do Rawalpindi school fees group into bands?
From papers we could open today: state schools charge nothing up to class ten apart from the board's Class 9 dues, PEF partners may not bill the pupils PEF supports, and TCF says (in an undated FAQ) that families pay between Rs 10 and Rs 250 monthly depending on means. Siddeeq Public School's 2026-27 tuition is Rs 9,500 a month. Cadet College Rawalpindi's archived April 2026 page listed Rs 36,000 a month including boarding. The chain and cantonment schools we checked publish no figures, so we have not placed them in a band.
Besides tuition, what do Rawalpindi schools collect on joining day?
Expect at least an admission fee; many schools add a registration or test charge, and some take a deposit. Siddeeq charges Rs 9,500 once and nothing for its entrance test. Roots International names three admission-day items across its network, registration and admission (each marked non-refundable) plus a security fee marked refundable, but prints no sums. Where Punjab's 1984 Ordinance applies, section 7A(8) keeps both the admission charge and any security within one month's tuition. Cadet College Rawalpindi's archived April 2026 fee page (the live page is down) listed Rs 40,000 for admission and a Rs 10,000 deposit alongside a monthly charge that bundles boarding; ask any school which rules it is registered under and how it applies them.
What should I budget for books and uniform in Rawalpindi?
We found no Rawalpindi school that prices them online. Siddeeq publishes its book list and uniform specification without prices, and Cadet College Rawalpindi's archived April 2026 fee page said books, stationery, uniform and bedding were 'provided on payment through the college shop' (the live page is down). Government schools give textbooks free, and TCF gives books and uniforms free to families who cannot pay. Price the list yourself before you pay admission; the Ordinance says a school cannot require you to buy from one particular shop.
Do Rawalpindi schools publish a price for the school bus or van?
Not on any official page we checked on 9 October 2026. Get the school's monthly quote in writing if it runs vehicles, compare it with a private van for your route, and multiply by the months you will use it.
What did the Class 9 board registration cost for 2026-28?
BISE Rawalpindi set Rs 2,750 per student (registration, processing, sports, development fund and scholarship fee). Government institutions skipped the Rs 1,000 registration part and paid Rs 1,750. Those windows, and the Rs 2,500 re-admission window that ended on 2 October 2026, have closed; the notice still allows late registration against daily fines from Rs 200, on terms that depend on when the pupil was admitted.
How do I put two Rawalpindi schools side by side on cost?
Turn each school's paperwork into a single first-year number: tuition for the months billed, every one-time and yearly charge, board fees if relevant, and your own prices for books, uniform and transport, with deposits kept apart. Our worksheet shows this for Siddeeq Public School (Rs 123,500 before deposit, books, uniform and travel) and Cadet College Rawalpindi (Rs 472,000 including boarding, from its archived April 2026 fee page).
