School Fees in Multan: Board Charges, Fee Rules and a First-Year Cost Worksheet
No Multan private school we checked puts its tuition rates online, so this hub works from what is actually on the record: free government and PEF places, BISE Multan's per-pupil charges, Punjab's limits on admission fees, deposits and yearly rises, and a worksheet that turns any fee card into a twelve-month total.
Short answer
On 9 October 2026 we found no private school in Multan publishing its tuition rates, so no honest private fee band can be drawn. What is on record: Punjab's 2014 Act makes government schooling free to Class 10 on its text, PEF partners cannot charge funded pupils, and BISE Multan charged a private-school pupil Rs 2,900 to register for Class 9 in 2026-28, a window now closed.
How we researched this: Our 9 October 2026 check covered the sites of Multan Public School & College, Nishat, Bloomfield Hall Multan Cantt, Newlands Multan, Beaconhouse's Multan pages, The City School, The Educators and Allied Schools; the district government's write-up of Multan Public School; the board's own notices; the 2014 Act and the 1984 Ordinance; PEF's FAQs; and news reports from The News, ProPakistani and The Nation. The bands are our own way of grouping who sets each price, and fee figures from listing sites were left out.
Ask a Multan school what it costs and the reply is usually a monthly figure. That figure is only one row of the bill. Around it sit costs that arrive once or once a year: the admission charge and usually a processing fee, a deposit, some yearly subscription or fund, Matric and intermediate board dues, and the everyday spending on books, uniform and getting to school. This page sets out which of those amounts anyone has actually published for Multan, who sets each one, and how to turn a school's quote into a single twelve-month number. For free and low-cost options in more depth see /news/low-fee-schools-in-multan, and use /multan to find schools in your part of the city.
The first thing to know is that the private price list is missing. On 9 October 2026 we went through the sites of Multan's better-known schools and of the national chains with Multan branches, and none showed a tuition schedule for a Multan campus. Multan Public School & College's own domain displays an under-construction notice, and the district government's page about the school describes its two branches and its buses but gives no fees. Nishat's home page lists its Multan campuses without prices, and its admissions links returned 'not found' errors. The pages we opened on Bloomfield Hall's Multan Cantt site, Beaconhouse's Cantt Campus page and the Newlands Multan site showed no fee figures either. The City School hands over what it calls the 'Relevant Fee structure slip' once a family has paid to register, and on The Educators' FAQ the fee question is answered with a pointer to another section, not a number. For Army Public School, Cantonment Board and F.G. schools in the cantonment we found no official page that loaded: the federal FGEI site and the web address a school directory gives for the Cantonment Board's school did not resolve for us, and we found no official Army Public School Multan site. Rupee amounts for these schools do circulate on listing sites, but none could be traced back to a school, so we left them out.
Allied Schools at least explains the structure of a bill, in a network-wide FAQ last modified in 2019. Its headings are: an admission fee taken once from new pupils plus an admission processing fee, both marked non-refundable; an annual subscription fee due when each session opens; a security deposit, paid once and returned when the pupil leaves; tuition, normally billed two months ahead on a challan; and a charge for paying late. It says rates are prescribed by its Head Office for each academic year and that 'Campuses are advised not to charge over & above this'. It gives no amounts, and a link it offers to a fee-structure page returned a 404. Expect similar headings from other private schools and ask for every one of them in figures.
At the free end the position is clearer, and /news/low-fee-schools-in-multan walks through it in detail. In brief, Punjab's 2014 compulsory-education law counts as a child anyone 'from the age of five to sixteen years', and its section 3(3) rules out any fee, charge or expense for the family up to class ten at a state or local-authority school, although we could not find which of its sections the government has brought into force by notification. PEF's FAQs bar partner schools from billing funded or voucher pupils 'in whatsoever form'. Free seats are owed too: under section 13(b), a school without state aid should give one place in ten per class to children who pay nothing, or else fund prescribed vouchers for study elsewhere, and a ten-day compliance order from an Assembly standing committee was reported by The Nation on 28 July 2026. One board cost reaches even PEF schools: item 6 of BISE Multan's notice 223 binds PEF-run affiliated institutions to deposit the registration, processing, sports and development charges for their pupils, so a PEF parent should ask the school who pays them.
With so little published by the schools themselves, Punjab's rules are the most reliable yardstick a Multan parent has. Start with the threshold. Section 7A of the 1984 Ordinance draws its line at a monthly bill of Rs 4,000: from there up, a class's charge may climb no more than five percent from one academic year to the next. On paper a school may ask the Registering Authority for more, and that authority can grant as much as eight per cent; official statements since then put the ceiling lower. In July 2020 the department informed the Lahore High Court, as The News reported on the 7th, that the eight percent notification now read five percent, matching a 2019 Supreme Court ruling. Six years later, ProPakistani's report of 25 July 2026 quoted officials telling an Assembly committee that a yearly increase above 4% to 5% is not allowed, while admitting they have no power over the starting fee itself. Two other limits in 7A bite at the admission desk: neither the admission fee nor the security may be larger than what the pupil pays for one month of tuition, and lab charges, library charges and every other amount collected are treated as fee too. On the 2014 law's wording, subject to the same caveat about which sections are in force, a private school is restricted to tuition, an admission fee and the prescribed security, so a building fund is out whatever it is called, and section 14 forbids taking a capitation fee when a child is admitted. Schools may soon have to publish what they charge: a ProPakistani piece dated 4 May 2026 lists fee disclosure among the province's revised registration conditions. We did not see the official notice, so count it as a news report for now.
The one set of Multan school charges that is fully published comes from the board. To register a ninth-class pupil for 2026-28, notice 223 (dated 29 April 2026) charges a private institution's pupil Rs 2,900 in all. Rs 1,000 of that is the registration fee itself; the other Rs 1,900 is processing plus sports, scholarship and development money, and it is the whole bill for a pupil at a government school. The normal window opened on 25 April; notification 264 of 8 June extended it to 22 June and set a late window, with Rs 600 extra, from 23 June to 7 July 2026, so both have closed. Notice 223 still allows entry after that against daily fines, and pupils seeking re-admission to Class 9 have their own schedule: notification 352 of 2 September 2026 set the re-admission fee at Rs 2,200 until 17 September, or Rs 4,200 including a Rs 2,000 fine until 19 October 2026, so that route is open on 9 October. For Class 11, notification 345 of 20 August 2026 sets enrolment at Rs 3,200 per candidate (Rs 1,000 enrolment plus Rs 2,200 processing) until 5 October 2026, and Rs 3,800 with the Rs 600 late fee from 6 to 20 October 2026, so on 9 October that late window is still running. Exam entry is a separate bill. For the SSC 1st Annual 2026 papers, notice 395 of 1 November 2025 set the single fee for a regular Class 9 candidate at Rs 2,600 with practicals or Rs 2,550 for the arts group without, and Rs 4,000 or Rs 3,950 for Class 10, with double and triple fees for later submission. The board had not posted its notice for the 2027 exams on its notifications page when we checked.
Multan schools are silent online on three more costs: books, uniform and transport. We saw no price for a book list or a uniform on any Multan school page, so ask for both on paper. Where you buy them is your call: under 7A(10) a school may not insist on a single seller for textbooks, uniforms and similar items, a point the 2014 Act repeats. On transport, the district government's page says Multan Public School & College runs '15 Buses and 3 small vehicles' for pick and drop, without a price. Across Punjab, ProPakistani reported in January 2025 that some prominent private school networks were demanding an additional Rs30,000 from parents 'under the pretext of a transport fund', and its May 2026 report on the new registration rules said schools would have to provide transport for at least 50 percent of students, which, like the fee-disclosure rule, we could not confirm from an official notice. Our own /pick-and-drop listings cannot help yet: all eight van operators there work in Islamabad or Rawalpindi. Ask the school what its service costs a month from your street, and set that beside a quote from an independent van driver.
Because no Multan fee card is published, the worksheet below is built to be filled in at the school office. One-off and repeating charges sit in different rows, tuition is multiplied by the number of billed months, the board's fixed amounts are added in, and the security deposit stays outside the total. The worked column uses the Ordinance's own Rs 4,000 threshold purely as an illustration of how the legal limits play out; it is not any school's fee. Our profiles, for example /schools/multan-public-school-multan and /schools/allied-school-mumtaz-campus-multan, show a school's address and area but no phone number or fees yet, so the written schedule has to come from the school office; once two or three are in hand, /compare puts them side by side. Checklist before you decide
- ✓Tuition: your child's class rate at this branch, the session printed on it, and the count of billed months.
- ✓Ask whether fees are collected monthly or two months at a time, and what the late-payment charge is.
- ✓Write down the admission fee and any processing or registration fee separately, and check each against one month's tuition.
- ✓Ask for the security deposit amount and the refund terms on paper, including how long a refund takes.
- ✓List every yearly charge (subscription, fund, activity or exam charge) and ask what each one pays for.
- ✓For Class 9 or Class 11 entry, check whether the school's bill includes BISE Multan's registration or enrolment charge or adds it later.
- ✓Books and uniform: a priced list for the class, the cost of one uniform set, and a yes or no on buying them at any shop.
- ✓School run: own buses or vans or none, the rate to your street per month, and any up-front transport fund.
- ✓Yearly rise: ask by what percentage this class went up last session; above Rs 4,000 a month, anything over five percent is worth questioning.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a published fee range for private schools in Multan?
Not one we could verify. On 9 October 2026 none of the Multan school or chain websites we opened showed tuition for a Multan campus, and The City School says its fee slip comes after registration. Figures on listing sites are not traceable to the schools, so we have not printed them. Ask each school for a dated written schedule.
Which charges besides tuition should a Multan parent expect at admission?
Plan for three: the admission fee, a processing or registration charge, and a security deposit; ask in writing whether and when the deposit is returned. Allied Schools' FAQ names all of these, calls its deposit refundable, and adds a yearly subscription. Where the 1984 Ordinance applies, its section 7A(8) means neither the admission fee nor the deposit should top a single month of tuition, so the monthly rate is your benchmark for both.
What does the board charge a Multan pupil, and when?
For the 2026-28 session BISE Multan charged a private-school pupil Rs 2,900 to register for Class 9 and a government-school pupil Rs 1,900; those windows closed on 7 July 2026, but re-admission to Class 9 stays open until 19 October 2026 at Rs 4,200 including the fine (notice 352). Class 11 enrolment is Rs 3,200, or Rs 3,800 with the late fee until 20 October 2026. Exam entry is billed separately: for the March 2026 papers the single fee was Rs 2,600 or Rs 2,550 in Class 9 and Rs 4,000 or Rs 3,950 in Class 10.
How much do books and uniforms add in Multan?
No Multan school we checked publishes a price for either, so ask for the book list and the uniform price before paying the admission fee. Government pupils receive free textbooks, and Punjab law says a school cannot make you buy books or uniform from one particular shop.
How should a family budget for the school run?
Give it a separate row: what your route costs per month, multiplied by the months your child will ride, plus any one-off transport fund. Multan Public School & College runs a bus fleet according to the district government, but no Multan school we checked publishes a price, and SchoolNama has no Multan van operator listed yet.
Can a Multan private school raise fees every year?
Yes, within limits for schools charging Rs 4,000 a month or more: the Ordinance caps the yearly rise at five percent, with up to eight percent possible on approval in its text. Officials have since cited tighter numbers, five percent in court in 2020 and 4% to 5% to Assembly members in July 2026.
