School Fees in Faisalabad: What a First Year Really Costs, from Free Schools to Boarding

Few Faisalabad schools put a price online. We re-opened every official fee figure we could find on 9 October 2026, from Punjab's free-schooling law to a cadet college's 2026-27 schedule and BISE Faisalabad's new service charges, then built a first-year worksheet and a checklist around them.

SchoolNama Editorial · 9 October 2026 · 11 min read

Short answer

Faisalabad schooling runs from fee-free government and PEF partner schools (Class 9-10 board charges aside), through TCF's undated Rs 10 to Rs 250 monthly scale, to Cadet College Faisalabad's 2026-27 boarding charges of Rs 39,500 to Rs 41,000 a month for Classes 7 to 10. Most day schools post no tuition rates, so parents must add admission, deposits, board fees, books, uniform and transport themselves.

How we researched this: We worked from material re-opened on 9 October 2026: official sites, prospectuses and fee sheets from Cadet College Faisalabad, AlHuda International School, LGS Faisalabad, Al-Faisal Grammar School, Allied Schools, Beaconhouse, The City School, The Educators, Faisalabad Grammar School, Divisional Public School & College and UAF's Laboratory School system; notices from BISE Faisalabad; Punjab's 1984 Ordinance and 2014 Act; PEF and TCF pages; and coverage in The News, ProPakistani and The Nation. SchoolNama drew the bands, did every sum itself and ignored aggregator fee lists.

A monthly fee is only one line of a Faisalabad school bill. Before a child's first term is over, most families will also have paid some mix of a form or registration charge, an admission fee, a refundable deposit, a yearly subscription or fund, board fees in Classes 9 and 10, a book list, uniforms and the daily ride. This guide gathers the figures that Faisalabad schools and Punjab's authorities actually publish, as we found them on 9 October 2026, sorts them into bands, says plainly where nothing is published, and works a first-year total from the one complete current schedule we could find. For the cheapest routes in more depth see /news/low-fee-schools-in-faisalabad, for shortlisting by curriculum and board results see /news/best-schools-in-faisalabad and /news/best-matric-schools-in-faisalabad, and use /faisalabad to browse schools by area.

The floor of the market is fixed by law, not by schools. Punjab's 2014 schooling Act, in section 3(3), lifts every fee, charge and expense of completing school off pupils and parents alike wherever the government or a local authority owns or controls the institution. It reaches classes one to ten, and its definition of a child is one 'from the age of five to sixteen years'. Because section 1(3) allows provisions to start on separately notified dates, and we could not establish which have started, any money a government school requests deserves a question about its purpose. Textbooks are free there too. According to The Nation on 3 April 2026, Punjab began giving out 30 million free books in its government schools at the start of the school year. Private schools inside the Punjab Education Foundation's programmes charge the family nothing either, and in both cases BISE board charges in Classes 9 and 10 still fall due, as set out further down. PEF's FAQ for Foundation Assisted Schools rules out charging enrolled pupils 'any fee in whatsoever form', listing admission charges and registration fees among its examples, and its voucher-scheme FAQ says the same of voucher holders. PEF pays the school instead: its FAS overview sets a per-child subsidy running from Rs 750 for nursery to class 2 up to Rs 1,800 for classes 11 and 12 in science, and its voucher FAQ says partner schools cash each voucher 'in lieu of monthly fee' at Rs 550 for primary up to Rs 1,100 for secondary science. That money depends on results: the FAS FAQ says that after two consecutive failed quality tests a school gets 50% of its assistance until it passes a third, and that 'failing in three consecutive QATs, the financial assistance is discontinued'.

TCF, The Citizens Foundation, is the next rung up, and Faisalabad appears as one of the districts in its school finder. An undated FAQ published by TCF's US arm puts its monthly tuition on a sliding scale from Rs 10 to Rs 250 and says families who cannot pay for uniforms and books are given them at no cost. Because that page has no date, check the figure with the campus itself.

Between those routes and boarding, Faisalabad's private day schools publish almost nothing about price, and none of SchoolNama's 152 Faisalabad listings carries a fee record yet. Divisional Public School & College's website showed an 'Under Construction' notice and phone numbers when we checked. Faisalabad Grammar School's website and admissions page give no fees, nor does Beaconhouse's page for its Faisalabad Main Campus on the canal, nor the University of Agriculture's page on its Laboratory School & College System, which describes five campuses, one of them in D.G. Khan, teaching up to intermediate level. At The City School, a fee structure slip is handed over only once the form is in and registration is paid, according to its admissions page; The Educators' FAQ, asked about its fee structure, refers readers to the admission procedure section. Allied Schools sets out its fee types on a network page without amounts: a non-refundable admission fee with a non-refundable processing fee on top, an annual subscription at the start of each session, a refundable security deposit, tuition that a campus 'will normally charge two months' in advance, and a late fee; the fee-structure link on that page returned 'not found' to us. AlHuda International School's fee page simply asks parents to contact the campus. What does surface are entry charges. AlHuda's Faisalabad admissions page for 2026 asks for a paid Rs 1,500 registration fee challan, and Lahore Grammar School Faisalabad's admissions page lists a Rs 2,000 registration fee for middle and senior school applicants, though that page still shows test dates for 2022-23, so confirm the current amount. LGS Faisalabad's admission policy adds a Rs 500 deposit to collect a registration form and calls the registration fee non-refundable.

One small school does print a full card. Al-Faisal Grammar School in Nishatabad lists a PKR 200 prospectus and form, a PKR 6,000 admission fee, tuition of PKR 2,000 a month marked 'Subject to change according to classes', printing charges of PKR 250 a month, a PKR 100 identity card, PKR 60 a month for the cycle stand and a PKR 200 science fee for high classes. Its payment schedule collects in blocks, May to August by 10 May and then two months at a time. The page names no session and the site's footer reads 2022, so read it as an example of how a low-fee card is put together rather than as this year's price.

The only complete schedule for the current session that we found belongs to a boarding school. Cadet College Faisalabad, on Raees Pura Jasoana Road in Jaranwala tehsil, prints a 2026-27 fee page in its prospectus. Monthly charges come to Rs 39,500 for Classes 7 and 8 and Rs 41,000 for Classes 9 and 10: Rs 12,500 tuition, Rs 4,000 for a fund covering sports, transport, computers and first-aid medical care, Rs 4,000 hostel, Rs 3,500 utilities and services, Rs 15,000 messing and Rs 500 club, with a Rs 1,500 library and science lab fund added from Class 9. On admission it lists an admission fee of Rs 25,000 (Classes 7 and 8) or Rs 30,000 (Classes 9 and 10), a Rs 25,000 building fund and a Rs 40,000 security marked refundable, so the bill 'At the time of Admission' comes to Rs 90,000 or Rs 95,000. Its fee rules say 'There will be no exemption in fee &funds during any kind of vacations', and that a student whose bill is not paid within 25 days of issue is struck off the roll. Tuition concessions include 25% for siblings and for wards of government teachers. The college's 2025-26 sheet shows the same admission amounts and monthly totals for Classes 7 to 10. Its 2026-27 Class 11 column does not add up, with listed items totalling Rs 46,000 against a printed Rs 43,700, so ask which figure applies. According to the college's admission schedule, the 2026-27 session began on 21 February 2026.

Classes 9 and 10 bring board charges that school cards rarely show in full. BISE Faisalabad's circular 1526-GR of 28 April 2026 fixed Class 9 registration for the 2026-28 session at Rs 1,000 registration, Rs 800 processing and Rs 300 for the sports and scholarship fund per student, none of it refundable, with pupils of government institutions excused the registration fee but not the other two if they registered on time. For the 2026 Matric annual exam, the board's press release of 1 November 2025 charged a regular candidate, at single fee, Rs 1,500 (Science) or Rs 1,450 (Arts) for Part I and Rs 3,000 or Rs 2,950 for Part II; regular candidates at institutions whose single fee the Punjab government had waived paid Rs 800 for fresh Class 9 and Rs 2,300 for Class 10 alone. Those windows have closed. On 7 October 2026 the board issued Notification No. 03 raising a list of service charges 'effective immediately', among them a Rs 1,000 processing fee, a Rs 1,200 registration fee, a Rs 280 sports fund, a Rs 150 scholarship fund and Rs 2,500 per copy for rechecking an answer book. The next Class 9 registration may therefore cost more than the Rs 2,100 charged for 2026-28; check the schedule when it appears. When we looked, the board's news page did not yet show a fee schedule for the 2027 Matric exams.

Books, uniforms and transport are where published prices run out. AlHuda's 2026-27 book list for Grade I names titles and publishers but no prices, states that 'Parents can purchase the books from any bookseller', and points Faisalabad families to a bookshop on East Canal Road. Cadet College Faisalabad issues its dresses, from khaki uniform to tracksuit, from its kit store 'on approved rates' that the prospectus does not print, and limits pocket money to Rs 500 a month. On paper the choice of seller stays with parents, because under section 7A(10) of the Ordinance a school 'shall not require' them to use one particular shop or provider for textbooks, uniforms and similar items. On transport, AlHuda's admissions FAQ says it does not currently provide it, while the cadet college rolls transport into its Rs 4,000 monthly fund. ProPakistani's 4 May 2026 piece on Punjab's revised registration conditions said private schools must now disclose fee structures and arrange transport for half or more of their enrolment; the official notification itself did not turn up in our search. No Faisalabad van operator appears on SchoolNama's /pick-and-drop directory yet, where all eight current listings are in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, so collect written monthly quotes for your street from the school and an independent van owner, then multiply by the months of use.

Provincial law also limits what a Faisalabad fee card may include. Under section 7A of the 1984 Ordinance on private institutions (the consolidated version is posted by Punjab's Higher Education Department), once a class pays Rs 4,000 or more a month, its fee may rise no more than five percent a year; the wording still allows a school to seek a larger rise and the Registering Authority to grant as much as eight percent. Later official statements point lower. According to The News of 7 July 2020, the department informed the Lahore High Court that its notification on an 8 percent increase had been corrected to 5 percent, matching the Supreme Court's 2019 ruling; and on 25 July 2026 ProPakistani reported department officials telling the Assembly's standing committee on school education that annual rises are capped at 4% to 5%, while conceding they have no power over a school's starting fee. Under the same section, a month's tuition is the most a school may ask as admission fee, and likewise as security, while its definition of 'fee' sweeps in laboratory and library charges and anything else a pupil is billed. The 2014 Act's section 13(d) is stricter on paper, allowing a private school only tuition, admission fee and prescribed security and naming a 'building fund' as a charge it must not take under any name, while section 14 bans capitation fees; as noted above, section 1(3) leaves each provision to start on a notified date, and how 13(d) would treat boarding costs such as hostel and messing is untested. Section 13(b) adds a duty for unaided private schools to set aside a tenth of every class, starting with class one, for children taught free or, in the alternative, to provide prescribed vouchers for disadvantaged children's education in any other school, as the government determines; The Nation's 28 July 2026 report said an Assembly standing committee wanted every private school doing this within ten days. Cadet College Faisalabad's prospectus says it 'is managed by a Board of Directors' and calls it an institution 'under patronage of Pakistan Army'; its 2026-27 admission fee and security are each larger than one month's tuition. That is a question to put to the college, not a finding: ask it, and any school whose schedule raises the same point, in writing which registration and fee rules it works under.

To compare schools on cost, turn each offer into a single first-year figure. Sort every charge into three piles: paid once on joining, repeated each billing period (and note how many periods the school bills in a year), and refundable deposits, which belong on a separate line because they come back only on the school's terms. Next come board charges in Classes 9 and 10 and your own prices for the book list, uniforms and the school run. The worksheet below does this for two classes at Cadet College Faisalabad from its 2026-27 schedule and leaves a column for a day school on your list. When each school has put its schedule in writing, compare finalists on /compare, starting from profiles like /schools/lahore-grammar-school-faisalabad, /schools/faisalabad-grammar-school-main-campus-faisalabad and /schools/divisional-public-school-and-college-faisalabad.

Checklist before you decide

  • ✓Ask for a written or PDF schedule naming the session year, for the exact class and campus your child will join.
  • ✓Separate what is paid once (form, registration, admission, processing, building or development charges) from what repeats.
  • ✓Ask how many months a year are billed and how many months each voucher covers, since some schools bill two months or a whole term in advance.
  • ✓Hold the admission fee and the deposit up against one month's tuition: Punjab's Ordinance says neither may exceed it.
  • ✓For any deposit, get the refund conditions and the refund period in writing before you pay.
  • ✓List every fund, subscription, lab, library or printing charge, and ask which of them recur each year.
  • ✓In Classes 9 and 10, ask what the school collects for BISE Faisalabad registration and exams, and check the board's own schedule for the current rates.
  • ✓Ask for the book and stationery list for the class, price it at two shops, and confirm you may buy from any seller.
  • ✓Price one full uniform set, including sports kit, and ask how many sets a child needs.
  • ✓Get a monthly transport price for your street from the school and from a private van operator, and ask whether school transport is optional.
  • ✓Ask how much the class fee rose last year and compare it with the 5% limit officials have cited for fees of Rs 4,000 a month or more.
  • ✓Ask about sibling, staff or teacher concessions, and whether they apply to tuition only or to other charges too.

Frequently asked questions

Roughly what does a year of school cost in Faisalabad, from free to boarding?

From the official figures we could re-open, a child at a government school pays the school nothing, apart from BISE board charges in Classes 9 and 10 (in the 2026 cycle a government-school pupil owed Rs 1,100 for on-time Class 9 registration, and the waived exam rates of Rs 800 (fresh Class 9) or Rs 2,300 (Class 10 only) applied in the single-fee window); PEF partner schools may not charge funded pupils, but ask what the school collects for the board; and TCF's undated FAQ quotes a sliding Rs 10-250 a month. We found no current published tuition for Faisalabad's day-school chains. At the top, Cadet College Faisalabad's 2026-27 boarding charges are Rs 39,500 a month for Classes 7 and 8 and Rs 41,000 for Classes 9 and 10, or Rs 474,000 and Rs 492,000 over twelve billed months.

What does a Faisalabad family pay up front at admission?

Usually a form or registration charge, an admission fee (sometimes with a processing fee) and a refundable security. AlHuda's Faisalabad campus asks for Rs 1,500 at registration, LGS Faisalabad's admissions page lists Rs 2,000 (that page still shows 2022-23 test dates, so confirm), and Cadet College Faisalabad's 2026-27 page lists Rs 90,000 to Rs 95,000 at admission, including a Rs 25,000 building fund and Rs 40,000 refundable security. Under Punjab's Ordinance the admission fee and the security may each be no higher than a month's tuition; a building fund is a separate matter, which the 2014 Act's wording forbids, though we could not confirm which of its sections are in force. Query anything that goes beyond these.

Do Faisalabad schools tell you what books and uniforms will cost?

Rarely. AlHuda publishes a 2026-27 book list with titles but no prices and says books can be bought from any bookseller, and Cadet College Faisalabad issues dresses at unpublished 'approved rates'. In government schools textbooks come free, and TCF's FAQ promises free books and uniforms to families unable to pay. A school may not require you to buy from a particular shop.

Is school transport priced on the fee card, and who provides it?

Mostly not. AlHuda says it does not currently provide transport, and Cadet College Faisalabad is residential, with transport inside a Rs 4,000 monthly fund. Revised Punjab registration conditions, as ProPakistani described them in May 2026, oblige each private school to provide transport facilities for 50 percent or more of its students, but we could not find the official notification. SchoolNama lists no Faisalabad van operator yet, so get written quotes for your route.

What will BISE Faisalabad charge in Classes 9 and 10?

For the 2026-28 session, Class 9 registration cost Rs 2,100 at a private school (Rs 1,100 at a government school registering on time). Single-fee exam charges for Matric 2026 were Rs 1,500 or Rs 1,450 for Part I and Rs 3,000 or Rs 2,950 for Part II. On 7 October 2026 the board raised several service charges, including registration to Rs 1,200 and processing to Rs 1,000, so check its next schedule.

How much can a Faisalabad private school raise its fee in a year?

For a class billed at Rs 4,000 a month or above, the 1984 Ordinance permits five percent a year, and on paper a school may still ask the Registering Authority for up to eight. Officials have pointed lower since. The Lahore High Court heard from the department in 2020 that an 8 percent notification was corrected to 5 percent, and in July 2026 a Punjab Assembly committee was told yearly rises may not exceed 4% to 5%.

How do I put two Faisalabad schools on the same footing?

Add up one first-year figure for each school. Start with what is paid once, multiply the monthly bill by the months really charged, then add yearly funds, exam-year board fees and your own book, uniform and transport prices; deposits you get back go on a line of their own. Use the worksheet above as the template and compare totals, not monthly fees.
