School Fees in Abbottabad: Two Dated Fee Sheets, BISE Abbottabad Dues and KP's Rules for a First-Year Budget
Of the Abbottabad school websites we read on 14 October 2026, two print dated rupee fees. This guide sets those figures beside BISE Abbottabad's 2026-27 charges and the KP regulator's limits, then hands parents a sheet for pricing any other school line by line.
Short answer
As of 14 October 2026, only two Abbottabad schools among those we checked print dated fees. Army Burn Hall College for Boys charges day scholars Rs 14,154 to Rs 20,515 a month from 1 July 2026. Abbottabad Public School's boarding fee from April 2027 is Rs 163,000 or Rs 185,000 a quarter. BISE Abbottabad's Class 9 enrolment costs Rs 1,200 per pupil until 20 October 2026.
How we researched this: Our checks on 14 October 2026 covered the fee and admissions pages of six Abbottabad institutions, namely Burn Hall's boys' college (with the fee-sheet image its page shows), Abbottabad Public School, Tameer-i-Wattan, Beaconhouse's Cantt branch, the PIPS boys' college and the Cantonment Board's schools page, plus national pages for The City School (admissions) and The Educators (FAQ); we also downloaded BISE Abbottabad's revised Class 9 enrolment notice, Class 11 registration notice and fee notification from the board's news page, read KP-PSRA's Act, 2018 Regulations, 2020 norms and three of its letters, downloaded PSRA's Abbottabad district register, and ran a script over SchoolNama's 46 Abbottabad listings, using no amounts shown only on directory or aggregator sites.
Most Abbottabad families compare schools on one figure, the monthly fee, and then meet the rest of the year's bill in instalments they did not plan for. A real first-year total is built from more lines: one-off joining charges, a deposit that is supposed to be repaid, tuition for every month on the bill, board dues in Class 9 and Class 11, then books, uniform and the trip to school each day. Below we price each part only where an official page or notice prints an amount, and say plainly where nothing is published. SchoolNama's Abbottabad listings are at /abbottabad, with area pages at /abbottabad/cantt, /abbottabad/mandian and /abbottabad/jinnahabad.
Our plan was a set of rupee bands for Abbottabad's private schools; the evidence would not carry it. SchoolNama's 46 listings for the city hold no fee we have verified. KP's Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) keeps a public register for Abbottabad district, which held 785 entries when we downloaded it on 14 October 2026 (768 of them marked active), but it records each school's name, level, registration number and status, with no fee column. Of the school websites we read the same day, only two printed rupee amounts with a date or session attached: Army Burn Hall College for Boys and Abbottabad Public School. Both take boarders, so their figures may say little about a typical neighbourhood school. We did not take figures from directory or aggregator websites.
Burn Hall's boys' college on Mansehra Road displays a fee sheet titled 'FEE STRUCTURE wef 1st Jul 2026'. A day scholar pays by the month: Rs 14,154 in Prep to Class 2, Rs 14,874 in Classes 3 and 4, Rs 15,799 in Classes 5 and 6 (and PJC I and II), Rs 17,096 in Classes 7 and 8 (and PJC III and IV), Rs 17,838 in Classes 9 and 10, Rs 18,877 for JC and SC, and Rs 20,515 for FSc and A Level. The sheet shows boarding and day boarding only from Class 5: boarders pay Rs 171,105 to Rs 185,253 a quarter and day boarders Rs 29,965 to Rs 34,681 a month. A new pupil's admission charges come to Rs 51,200: an admission fee, a building fund and a maintenance fund of Rs 16,200 each, Rs 1,600 for the college magazine, and Rs 500 each for the calendar and the item the sheet calls 'New Letter'. The sheet's refundable security column reads Rs 150,000 (boarders), Rs 80,000 (day boarders) and Rs 50,000 (day scholars). Check the date printed on any schedule you are handed.
Abbottabad Public School, which admits boys mainly at Grade 7, prints a schedule titled 'Revision of Fee — w.e.f April 2027'. Open-merit fees are charged by the quarter: Rs 163,000 in Grades 7 to 10 and Rs 185,000 in Grades 11 and 12, a sum the page says covers tuition, boarding and lodging as well as library, lab, hobby, society and computer charges. Three items are payable once at admission: Rs 25,000 covering admission, registration and processing; Rs 60,000 for maintenance; and Rs 30,000 for internal plus external exams. There is also a Rs 150,000 security deposit, refundable 'on completion or withdrawal, subject to clearance', and Rs 80,000 for pocket money, uniform and stationery, used 'As per actual consumption'. Each quarter is paid in advance in its first month, and the page adds that fees are subject to revision by the school administration. The page also says day admission is offered to boys from Abbottabad, but it prints no day-scholar fee, so ask for one in writing. As of 14 October 2026 registration for the 2026-27 entry test (Classes 7 and 8 and the new IGCSE/O Level pathway) is open, with forms accepted up to 30 November 2026 and the test on 25 December 2026.
Neither Burn Hall nor Abbottabad Public School appeared in the PSRA register we downloaded on 14 October 2026, and both list an admission fee, a charge PSRA's regulations forbid at registered private schools. We could not establish which body approves fee rises at these two institutions, so if you are applying to either, ask that question directly along with the fee.
The other schools we checked publish no tuition rates. Beaconhouse's Abbottabad Campus page gives an address in Cantt and nothing on fees. PIPS describes its Abbottabad boys' college, with day and boarding places from Grade VI to FSc and an O Level stream, without a fee. Tameer-i-Wattan's fee page, which puts no date on its rules, sets out terms but no tuition rates: day scholars pay by the 5th of each month with a Rs 20 daily fine after that, boarders pay quarterly with a Rs 50 daily fine, pupils who take computers pay an additional Rs 200 (the page names no period), siblings receive a 20% concession, and fees once paid are not refunded except the security. The City School's national admissions page says parents pay registration fees and then receive a fee structure slip, and that after the test result they are given 'the admission fee challan/bill'; at a PSRA-registered campus, ask what that bill contains. The Educators' FAQ refers fee questions to its admission procedure. The Cantonment Board Abbottabad's schools page names CB Public Girls School & College, affiliated with FBISE; its fees link leads to a list of municipal charges, and the school-fee address used by other cantonment sites returned a server error. For all of these, the only figure to plan with is the one the school puts in writing.
For schools on PSRA's register, the 2018 Regulations shape what can appear on a first bill. Clause 7(4) rules out an admission fee 'under any name whatsoever', forbids capitation fees whether at admission or afterwards, and allows payment in advance for one calendar month only. In March 2025, according to The Northern Post, PSRA warned schools again that admission, annual and capitation fees are banned, pointing to the Peshawar High Court's 14 December 2021 judgment. Any refundable deposit of Rs 10,000 or above has to be held in an account that earns interest, and returned together with that interest no later than a month after it falls due. Summer-break tuition is permitted by PSRA's letter of 29 May 2025, but only month by month as each month closes, never upfront or as one sum. PSRA's 2020 norms add that the monthly fees a school receives in an academic year must not exceed twelve.
Fee rises are capped too. Under the 2020 norms a school may lift its fees by as much as 10% each year, before the session opens; going past 10% needs PSRA's written approval in advance under the Regulations. The Act also limits a school to one rise per academic year, announced one month before that year begins. The Regulations also oblige a school to disclose its fee and facilities in its prospectus and to indicate the approximate cost of completing a class, including books, special clothing and other items pupils must buy. The norms also want the year's fee structure on show outside the school, ideally on a panaflex, and inside the fee office, with any discount printed on the receipt as a percentage.
Families with more than one child should know that the rules PSRA enforces give two different sibling figures. On kinship concessions, the Act asks PSRA to order at least 20%; the norms promise at least 20% to each child after the first; and PSRA's 16 July 2025 letter to the Peshawar Model network repeated a 20% floor. Regulation 7(12), in contrast, says a sibling concession 'shall not be less than 50% of the fee', and clause 7(4)(XV) stops a school charging a parent's second or third child more than half the tuition fee. Ask each school in writing which rate it applies; under Regulation 7(14), disputes over sibling concessions go to the District Scrutiny Committee.
Book and uniform prices were missing from every Abbottabad school page we read. The nearest thing is Abbottabad Public School's Rs 80,000 account covering pocket money, uniform and stationery, and Tameer-i-Wattan's note that its boarding charges leave out clothing, travel, medicines, test books, stationery, heating and exam fees. PSRA's Regulations bar a school from suggesting or forcing parents to buy stationery, books, uniforms or anything else from a particular outlet, and a PSRA letter of 18 December 2025 says the authority receives complaints about this regularly. For government schools, APP reported on 19 June 2026 that KP's 2026-27 budget allocates Rs 8.4 billion to the Education Sector Endowment Fund and the Free Textbooks Programme, a programme the report says provides free textbooks in public schools; ask the school whether your child will receive a complete set this year.
On top of school fees sit the board's own charges. BISE Abbottabad's revised notice dated 30 September 2026 gives a single Class 9 enrolment scale for both government and private institutions. The normal rate, Rs 1,200 a student (Rs 1,000 enrolment and Rs 200 sports), runs to 20 October 2026 and is open as of 14 October 2026; it becomes Rs 1,350 between 21 October and 5 November and Rs 1,500 between 6 and 23 November. If an institution has not submitted forms by 23 November, a penalty of Rs 50 per student per day is added to the late fee, subject to the board's approval, and no enrolment is accepted after 31 January 2027. Corrections to name, father's name, date of birth, subject or group after enrolment cost Rs 1,200 per student. Since the board bills government institutions the same per-student rate, board charges apply at government schools too; ask the head teacher whether the school or the family pays it.
For first year (Class 11), the board's notice dated 7 August 2026 sets registration at Rs 1,550 per student (Rs 1,300 registration plus Rs 250 sports) from 22 September to 17 November 2026, open as of 14 October 2026, then Rs 2,050 from 18 to 30 November and Rs 2,550 from 1 to 16 December 2026. The board's fee notification of 7 August 2026 lists the SSC exam fee at Rs 3,000 for Class 9 and Rs 3,200 for Class 10, the HSSC exam fee at Rs 3,300 for first year and Rs 3,600 for second year, and Rs 2,000 for migrating from one school or college to another. When we looked at the board's news page on 14 October 2026 it carried no admission notice for the 2027 annual exams, so no due date for the exam fee had been posted there. Schools affiliated with FBISE, such as the cantonment's girls' school, pay the Federal Board's charges instead, so ask which board your child will sit.
No Abbottabad van operator is on SchoolNama yet; all eight services on /pick-and-drop work in Islamabad or Rawalpindi. The school pages we read did not print a transport fee. Ask each day school whether it runs its own vans, what a full year of that service costs, how the summer months are billed, and whether you may arrange your own transport instead. Then add twelve months of that amount to the worksheet below before you compare totals.
Here is how the pieces add up for one published case, using SchoolNama's own arithmetic. A day scholar joining Burn Hall in Class 9 pays Rs 17,838 a month; if all twelve months are billed (our assumption, since the sheet gives only a monthly rate), tuition comes to Rs 214,056. Add Rs 51,200 in admission charges and the Rs 50,000 refundable security, and the school's first-year bill is Rs 315,256, of which Rs 50,000 is the security the sheet lists as refundable. If the school enters him with BISE Abbottabad, the Rs 1,200 enrolment fee (the normal rate, which runs to 20 October 2026) and the Rs 3,000 Class 9 exam fee take the year-one outlay to Rs 319,456, before books, uniform and transport.
Totals like this matter more than the monthly figure when two schools are close. Put each school's written schedule into the worksheet, ask what is excluded as well as what is included, and then line up the shortlisted profiles on /compare. SchoolNama's basic Army Burn Hall College listing is /schools/army-burn-hall-college-abbottabad, and parents weighing cheaper schools can turn to /news/low-fee-schools-in-abbottabad, our guide to PSRA's fee categories.

Checklist before you decide
- ✓Before comparing, insist on paper: a 2026-27 fee schedule from each school, carrying its date or session.
- ✓Ask how many monthly fees will be billed across the academic year, and how the summer months are charged.
- ✓List every item on the first bill by name; at a PSRA-registered school, ask which rule permits anything labelled admission, annual or capitation.
- ✓Confirm the security deposit amount, when it is returned and whether interest is paid on Rs 10,000 or more.
- ✓Look up the exact campus in PSRA's Abbottabad district register and confirm its status reads ACTIVE.
- ✓Find out whether your child will sit BISE Abbottabad or FBISE, and whether the school collects the board fee or you deposit it yourself.
- ✓For Class 9 at a BISE Abbottabad school, ask whether the school will complete enrolment by 20 October 2026, when the Rs 1,200 rate ends.
- ✓Ask for a priced list of books and uniform items, and check that any shop will do.
- ✓Get the school's sibling rate in writing: 20% or 50%?
- ✓Price transport for twelve months, or plan your own route, before comparing totals.
- ✓Ask what the headline fee excludes: exams, Cambridge entries, medical care, trips, winter clothing.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a usual fee range for Abbottabad schools?
We cannot give citywide bands, because as of 14 October 2026 only two schools whose sites we read printed dated fees, and both take boarders. Army Burn Hall College for Boys charges day scholars Rs 14,154 to Rs 20,515 a month from 1 July 2026. Abbottabad Public School's boarding fee from April 2027 is Rs 163,000 or Rs 185,000 a quarter. For other schools, ask for the written schedule.
Which one-time charges should parents expect?
It depends on the school's status. Burn Hall lists Rs 51,200 in admission charges, and Abbottabad Public School's three once-only items at admission add up to Rs 115,000 (our sum), each plus a refundable deposit; neither school appeared on PSRA's register on 14 October 2026. Registered private schools are barred by PSRA's 2018 Regulations from taking admission or capitation fees, and a deposit of Rs 10,000 or more has to be held in an interest-bearing account and repaid with the interest.
How far do books and uniform push up the cost?
No Abbottabad school we checked prints book or uniform prices. Abbottabad Public School asks for an Rs 80,000 account covering pocket money, uniform and stationery. Under PSRA's Regulations a school should state roughly what completing a class will cost, books and special clothing included, and cannot make you buy from a named outlet; ask for the list with prices.
Where does transport fit in the yearly total?
SchoolNama has no Abbottabad pick-and-drop operator listed, and none of the school pages we read prints a van charge. Ask each day school for its monthly transport rate, multiply by twelve, and add it to the total before comparing schools.
How can parents compare total yearly cost?
Use the cost sheet above: tuition times the months billed, one-time charges, deposits, board dues, books, uniform and transport, entered from each school's written schedule. Mark which amounts are refundable, then compare the year-one totals rather than the monthly fee.
Do board charges apply at government schools?
Yes. BISE Abbottabad's revised Class 9 notice of 30 September 2026 bills government and private institutions the same Rs 1,200 per student up to 20 October 2026, and its Class 11 notice sets one Rs 1,550 rate for both up to 17 November 2026. Check with the head teacher who pays it, the school or the parents.
