Froebel's vs Beaconhouse in Islamabad: Fees, O Levels, Culture and Fit
Froebel's is one school group with five Islamabad schools and a college; Beaconhouse lists 20 Islamabad entries on its branch locator, from early-years sites to an IB Diploma programme. Using both websites and the ICT-PEIRA register, here is where they differ and what to ask before you choose.
Short answer
Neither name suits every child. Froebel's runs five Islamabad schools and a college, and its website names only Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel routes for the senior years. Beaconhouse lists 20 Islamabad entries at 16 addresses, many of them early-years or primary sites, and its education page names Matric, O Level, A Level and IB. Pick the reachable campus whose exam route, written fees and journey fit your family.
How we researched this: Research was done on 5 October 2026. We read the Froebel's website, Beaconhouse's group pages and every Islamabad branch page we found on its locator, searched the ICT-PEIRA Islamabad register for each name, read Froebel's fee filings and enrolment returns there, and read one Dawn report. We counted SchoolNama's own listings with a script. We rank neither name, and our directory's placeholder fees and demo reviews were left out entirely.
The first thing to settle is what each name means on the ground, because the two are built differently. Froebel's International School, according to its contact page, has a single website and five schools in Islamabad: F-7/2, F-11/4, Block C of Gulberg Greens, the GT Road campus opposite Gate 1 of DHA Phase II (the Soan campus) and Peshawar Road. A sixth Islamabad address on the same page is Froebel's International College, on the GT Road opposite the same gate. The page also lists two schools in Lahore, one in Wah Cantt and a DHA Karachi campus. Beaconhouse, by contrast, describes itself as a group of divisions across six countries. Its group profile calls Beaconhouse School System the group's flagship school system and says it began as a small nursery in a private house in Lahore in 1975. On its Islamabad branch locator we found 20 entries at 16 distinct addresses, spread from F-7 and F-8 to G-15, PWD, Gulberg Greens, Bahria Enclave and Banigala. Because most of the Beaconhouse entries cover a single stage, a family may need to plan a sequence of campuses rather than one school.
Each Beaconhouse entry names the programmes it runs, and the pattern is clear once you read them all. Several are early-years or primary sites only: BKI F-7/1 lists the Primary Years Programme, BKI F-7/4 lists the Early Years Programme, BKI F-10/4 and BKI F-8/2 Margalla list Early Years and Primary Years, and the E-11 branch and the F-11/4 Primary branch list primary stages. Full-range entries are fewer: the Educational Complex in G-15/3, the Gulberg Greens campus, the Potohar campus on GT Road and Bahria Enclave each list early years through a Secondary School Programme, and Newlands in Banigala adds an IB Diploma Programme. The H-8/4 site on Pitras Bukhari Road appears three times, as a middle and secondary campus, a College Programme and an IB Diploma Programme. The G-11/3 Metropolitan campus is listed twice, as a middle and secondary campus and as a College Programme. Froebel's reads differently: its curriculum page describes a path from Playgroup to Year 13 under one brand, though not every campus goes that far, as the paragraphs below show.
The exam route is where the two names differ most clearly. Froebel's curriculum page says its Years 9 to 13 lead to IGCSE and A Level from Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge, with Medical, Engineering and Business or Humanities pathways, and its college page lists IGCSE, A Levels and BTEC. We found no Matric or FSc on the Froebel's pages we read. Beaconhouse's education page lists pathways at group level: Early Years, Primary, Middle, Matriculation, CIE O Level and IGCSE, CIE A Level, and the International Baccalaureate programmes. Its branch pages, however, say only 'Secondary School Programme', 'College Programme' or 'IB Diploma Programme' and do not state which board a given secondary campus follows. So if your child may need Matric rather than O Level, do not assume it from the group-level education page; ask the specific campus which exam each class sits. Our explainer at /news/o-levels-vs-matric-in-pakistan sets the board route against Cambridge, and /news/igcse-vs-o-levels-pakistan separates the two Cambridge-style certificates.
The early and primary years differ in what they publish. Froebel's says it teaches the International Early Years Curriculum from Playgroup to Preparatory and the International Primary Curriculum in Years 1 to 5, and calls itself an IPC pioneer in Pakistan. Its Lower Secondary stage covers Years 6 to 8. Beaconhouse's education page lists the Reggio Emilia approach among its curricular enrichment options at different levels and schools, without saying which Islamabad campus uses it, and three of its Islamabad entries carry a 'Project Based Learning' label: BKI F-7/3, the F-11/4 Primary branch and the E-11 branch. The Beaconhouse pages do not say which curriculum framework sits behind its Primary Years Programme label, so on a visit ask to see the textbooks and a sample term plan for the class your child would join. Treat both sets of descriptions as the schools' own claims.
On fees, Froebel's is the easier name to quantify, thanks to ICT-PEIRA, the regulator for private schools in the capital. Its register shows the class fees each school filed for up to three years. The five Froebel's schools filed near-identical lines. For 2024-25 the F-7/2 school lists Rs 30,608 for Playgroup, Rs 34,883 for Grade I, Rs 36,250 for Grades VI to VIII, Rs 47,633 for each IGCSE year and Rs 51,167 for A Level, with a Rs 30,000 admission fee. Peshawar Road and Gulberg Greens list Rs 47,383 for IGCSE I and Rs 49,750 for A Level, while the Soan and F-11/4 schools list the same Playgroup, Grade I and Grade VIII fees but stop at IGCSE and Grade VIII respectively. Grade I rose from Rs 28,825 in 2022-23 to Rs 31,708 and then Rs 34,883. The register does not say whether the amounts are monthly, and PEIRA's own disclaimer puts responsibility for any discrepancy on the school. The college filed a single line of Rs 22,500 for Grades XI and XII with a Rs 50,000 admission fee. No Froebel's school has a 2025-26 or 2026-27 filing on the register, so ask what is current.
For Beaconhouse we could not give you a regulator-filed figure. We searched the PEIRA register for 'Beaconhouse', 'Beacon House', 'BSS', 'BKI', 'BMI' and 'BCP', and found no Beaconhouse-group record; the only 'Beacon' results were unrelated schools such as Beacon Heights School System and Beacon School System. That is not proof that Beaconhouse is unregistered, since a school can be filed under another name, and we did not find a class-wise fee schedule on the Beaconhouse website either. Its admissions page offers an enquiry form with class options from Toddlers through Matric, O Level, A Level, IBDP and Intermediate, and says a school representative will contact the family within two working days. The practical point is that no public source lets us set a Beaconhouse fee beside Froebel's, so ask the campus for its 2026-27 fee schedule in writing, with every line itemised, and compare it with Froebel's filing only once you know which stage and class you mean. To read the columns of a PEIRA filing, see /news/school-fees-in-islamabad.
Supplies are a second bill on both sides. In November 2025, Dawn reported that the Competition Commission of Pakistan had served show-cause notices on 17 private school systems, and the commission's list included both Beaconhouse School System and Froebel's. According to the report, the commission alleged that parents were made to buy logo-branded notebooks, workbooks and uniforms from authorised vendors, and said its inquiry found many study packs cost up to 280% more than similar items on the open market. A show-cause notice is an allegation the school can answer, and we found no report of a final order. Beaconhouse has a uniform page on its website, and we found no supplies or fee policy on the Froebel's pages. Ask each campus what books, notebooks and uniforms cost for the year and whether you can buy any of them elsewhere.
Location decides more than most parents expect. Beaconhouse has entries in sectors where Froebel's also has a school. In F-7 there is Froebel's F-7/2 against Beaconhouse BKI F-7/1, F-7/3 and F-7/4; in F-11/4 there is Froebel's on Hilal Road and Beaconhouse's primary branch on Main Major Road; and in Gulberg Greens both have a campus. Froebel's lists no school in G-11, G-15, H-8, PWD or Banigala, where Beaconhouse does. The enrolment returns that Froebel's schools filed with PEIRA for 2025 show how far each goes: F-7/2, Peshawar Road and Gulberg Greens reported A Level classes, Soan reported pupils up to its third IGCSE year, and F-11/4 reported pupils up to Grade VIII. The college had no return on file. Whichever name you prefer, ask which campus your child would move to next, and when. Our /islamabad page lists schools by area, with area pages such as /islamabad/f-7, /islamabad/f-8 and /islamabad/gulberg-greens, and profiles such as /schools/froebels-international-school-gulberg-greens-campus-islamabad and /schools/beaconhouse-bki-f-7-4-islamabad help you start a shortlist.
We have not quoted ratings or testimonials. SchoolNama does not yet hold enough verified parent reviews of these campuses to report a fair picture, and we found no published parent survey covering them. What we can do is report what each says about itself. Froebel's says it opened in 1975 with 10 students and 4 teachers, now has more than 400 educators across what its About page calls 8 campuses in 3 cities (its contact page now lists more), and teaches children from age 3 through A Levels. Beaconhouse says on its About page that its network educates around 400,000 students in six countries, that it was founded in Lahore in 1975, and that its Access Centres offer university advice at its A Level and IBDP campuses. Every size figure here is self-reported and unchecked, and none says anything about teaching quality. Test the claims at the gate: ask current parents about homework load, communication, fee rises and how bullying is handled. If your child needs support, ask each campus what learning-support service it actually provides; Beaconhouse says its special-needs services are available only at some campuses.
Admission timing and transport are the last practical checks. Neither website we read published an Islamabad admission deadline or entry test for the 2026-27 session; Froebel's offers an admission form and Beaconhouse an online enquiry form, so phone the campus for current vacancies and the 2027-28 timetable. On transport, we found no school-run service described on the Froebel's pages we read, and the Beaconhouse branch pages do not describe one either, so price a van or driver before you accept a place. SchoolNama does not yet list a checked pick-and-drop provider in Islamabad, so ask the campus office and other parents on your route which vans they use, and get the monthly charge in writing. If a change of exam board leaves gaps, /tutors may help, and /compare puts two campuses side by side. Our directory still needs tidying: a script over SchoolNama's 6,687 campus records found 22 Islamabad listings linked to our Beaconhouse network record, and 7 Islamabad listings with a Froebel's name, of which 2 are linked to our Froebel's network record. These counts include duplicates and say nothing about quality or size.

Checklist before you decide
- ✓Check which exact campus your child would attend and who runs it; Beaconhouse has several entries for one site and Froebel's has five schools plus a college.
- ✓Decide early whether Matric or FSc may be needed; Froebel's website names only IGCSE, A Level and BTEC for the senior years, and Beaconhouse's branch pages do not say which board a secondary campus follows.
- ✓Ask the highest class each campus teaches and which campus takes your child for the final two school years.
- ✓Ask which exam board each subject uses and which board the campus is registered with.
- ✓Before paying anything, collect a written 2026-27 fee schedule that itemises registration, admission, any deposit, tuition, annual charges and exam fees, and says how many months one bill covers.
- ✓For Froebel's, look the campus up on the ICT-PEIRA register and compare the latest filing session with the invoice; for Beaconhouse, ask the campus which name it is registered under.
- ✓Ask what books, notebooks and uniforms cost for the year and whether you may buy them outside the school's approved sellers.
- ✓Ask whether seats are free now for your child's class and when the next entry test and the 2027-28 admission window fall.
- ✓Plan transport before you accept a place: ask the campus and parents on your route which vans they use, and get the monthly charge in writing.
- ✓Visit both finalists on a school day, talk to current parents and compare the two campuses on /compare.
Frequently asked questions
Is Froebel's better than Beaconhouse in Islamabad?
No single answer suits every child. Froebel's is one group with five Islamabad schools and a college, and its website names only Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel routes. Beaconhouse lists 20 Islamabad entries at 16 addresses, including early-years and primary sites, and its education page names Matric, O Level, A Level and IB. Compare the specific campuses within your reach by exam route, written fees and the daily journey.
Which is more expensive, Froebel's or Beaconhouse?
We cannot say. Froebel's schools filed Rs 34,883 for Grade I for 2024-25 with ICT-PEIRA, but we found no Beaconhouse record on the register and no fee schedule on its website. Ask each campus for its 2026-27 schedule in writing and compare line by line for the same class.
Does Froebel's offer Matric or FSc?
We found no Matric or FSc on Froebel's website, which describes IGCSE and A Level from Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge, plus BTEC at Froebel's International College. Beaconhouse's education page lists Matriculation, but its branch pages do not say which Islamabad campus teaches it, so ask the campus.
Does Beaconhouse teach O Level and A Level in Islamabad?
Its education page lists CIE O Level and IGCSE and CIE A Level, and its Islamabad locator shows College Programme entries at H-8/4 (BCP Margalla), G-11/3 (BCP Metropolitan), Potohar and Bahria Enclave. The pages do not spell out exam boards by campus, so confirm with the school.
Is there an IB option at either school?
Beaconhouse's locator lists an IB Diploma Programme at its H-8/4 BCP IBDP Margalla Campus and at Newlands in Banigala. Froebel's does not claim an IB programme on the pages we read. If IB matters, check the campus on the IB organisation's own website.
Which Froebel's campuses in Islamabad teach A Level?
In enrolment returns marked 2025 on the PEIRA register, A Level pupils were reported at F-7/2, Peshawar Road and Gulberg Greens. Soan stopped at IGCSE III and F-11/4 at Grade VIII. The college had no return on file.
What do parents say about Froebel's and Beaconhouse?
SchoolNama does not yet have enough verified parent reviews of these campuses to give a fair summary, and we found no published parent survey covering them. Talk to current parents about homework, communication, fee rises and bullying.
