Sindh opens 49 digital classrooms and 20 satellite schools for children with disabilities

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated 49 digital classrooms across 37 Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres, 20 satellite schools across Sindh and a sign-language teacher training programme at a ceremony in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi on 22 September 2026. The department said 754 deaf students will use the digital classrooms and 476 more children gain places through the satellite schools; about 20,000 students are enrolled across 67 specialised institutions in the province. Qualifying students receive therapy and rehabilitation, free transport, meals and a Rs 3,000 monthly stipend. Officials said roughly 810 children are on waiting lists, so families should contact Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities facilities directly about current openings.
