Punjab Police had asked the Rawalpindi district administration to close dozens of educational institutions so the buildings could house personnel deployed for the 27 September marches. That request was withdrawn once alternative accommodation was arranged, and on 21 September 2026 the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner said no educational institution in the district would be closed. Parents in Rawalpindi should treat the earlier closure reports as superseded and send children to school as normal unless their own school says otherwise. This is the opposite of the position in Islamabad, where 24 named government institutions were handed over to police and closed.
