Sindh schools run a five-day week, Monday to Friday — the six-day week was reversed

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department notified on 5 August 2026 that all public and private educational institutions under its administrative control shall observe a five-day working week, Monday to Friday, with immediate effect and until further orders. The College Education Department issued a matching order. This reversed the six-day week that had been imposed from 1 August 2026, restoring Saturday as a weekly holiday. The department said working hours for single-shift and double-shift schools would be notified separately, which is what the 9 September one-hour timing reduction then did. The five-day week remains the standing position.
