Best Matric Schools in Rawalpindi (2026): Board Results, Fee Questions & Parent Checklist

Most lists of the best Matric schools in Rawalpindi are built on reputation. This guide uses something parents can check themselves. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi publishes a result gazette for its Class 10 (SSC Part II) exam. As well as board totals, it has an institution-wise section, 174 pages long, giving each school's candidates enrolled and appeared, the number who passed and the pass rate. We read the 2026 gazette, compared it with the board's list of affiliated schools, and set out below what the numbers can and cannot tell you. Rawalpindi families usually deal with two boards. BISE Rawalpindi examines most schools in the city and in Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Taxila and the rest of the district, as well as Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Talagang and Murree. Its online list of affiliated institutes shows 1,427 entries for Rawalpindi district at SSC level: 453 government and 974 private. The list records every entry as male or female, and many schools appear twice, once for a boys' section and once for a girls' section. The Federal Board (FBISE) examines F.G. and Army Public schools and many other cantonment schools. By our count, more than 500 entries on FBISE's affiliated list have Rawalpindi addresses and are affiliated at SSC level. They include Army Public School and College campuses, F.G. public and boys' and girls' schools, Fazaia colleges at Chaklala and branches of Beaconhouse, The City School, Roots and Allied School. BISE Rawalpindi announced its SSC First Annual 2026 result on 6 August 2026. Its gazette says 120,411 candidates appeared and 73,829 passed, a pass rate of 61.31%. Girls passed at 70.18% and boys at 51.99%. The gap between school students and private candidates was wide. Regular candidates from government institutes passed at 64.1%, regular candidates from affiliated private institutes at 81.45%, and private candidates, who sit without a school, at 37.82%. Within Rawalpindi district, 35,599 regular candidates appeared and 25,462 passed, which the gazette gives as 71.5%. ProPakistani's comparison of Punjab's nine boards showed Rawalpindi with the lowest Class 10 pass rate of the nine in 2026.

The top positions did not come from Rawalpindi city. ProPakistani and The Nation both report that the overall top three were from schools in Gujar Khan tehsil, Murree and Talagang, with 1,191, 1,180 and 1,178 marks out of 1,200. The Nation reported that four girls shared second place in the Science Group with 1,176 marks, two of them from Allied Secondary School and Divisional Public School in Rawalpindi. The outlets spell some students' names differently, so we have not repeated them. For FBISE, Dawn reported that the Science Group's first and third positions went to students of Army Public School and College for Girls, Pasban, and Fazaia Inter College, Jinnah Camp, both in Rawalpindi Cantonment.

The institution-wise pages are more useful than the toppers. We read the 2026 results for 1,008 entries on BISE's Rawalpindi-district list. A school's boys' and girls' sections count as separate entries. The median entry had 22 candidates. By our count, 451 entries had fewer than 20 and only 63 had 100 or more. Small classes make pass rates jump around. Of the 108 entries where every candidate passed, 77 had fewer than 20 students and 51 had fewer than 10. Only four entries with 50 or more candidates reached 100%. The table below shows a range of Rawalpindi schools with larger classes, government and private, boys and girls. It is not a ranking. We picked schools that entered a meaningful number of students so their figures say something.

Look at who a school enters, not only its pass rate. Several of the largest classes in the city are at government girls' schools. Govt. Comprehensive Girls Higher Secondary School in Dhoke Kashmirian entered 360 candidates, the largest class among the Rawalpindi city schools we checked. A private school that only enters its strongest students, or moves weaker ones to sit as private candidates, will show a higher pass rate than a school that enters everyone. Ask any school how many students started Class 9 with it, and how many of them sat Class 10 under the school's name.

Being affiliated does not mean a school entered candidates. Of the 1,427 entries on BISE's Rawalpindi-district list, 417 have no row of their own in the 2026 Class 10 gazette. One example is the Beaconhouse boys' campus at 23-D Satellite Town. It is on BISE's list at SSC level, and FBISE also lists Beaconhouse's Satellite Town Boys Campus at the same address. Beaconhouse's own page for the branch describes a Middle Years and a Secondary School Programme without naming a board. If a school says it offers Matric, ask which board its Class 10 students sit, and ask to see last year's result for that board.

SchoolNama's own Rawalpindi data can't yet do this filtering for you, and we want to say so plainly. SchoolNama has 1,073 Rawalpindi listings, and 748 of them have no curriculum recorded. Of the 257 tagged Matric, 255 are public schools, and 37 have 'primary' or 'I-V' in their names, so the tag is not reliable. Our listing for The City School Chaklala Campus is tagged Matric, but we did not find that campus on either board's list under that name. FBISE does list The City School's Rawal Campus on Peshawar Road at SSC level. Our network listing for Roots International Rawal Campus is tagged O Level only, and a second listing for the campus has no curriculum recorded, while FBISE lists Roots' Rawal Campus on 6th Road, Satellite Town, at SSC and HSSC level. The shortlist in this guide is built from the boards' own documents, not from SchoolNama's tags.

Fees are where the evidence is thinnest. None of the school pages we opened for this guide published a Matric fee schedule, and we have not used fee figures from aggregator websites because we could not trace them to the schools. SchoolNama's own profiles for three Rawalpindi campuses show fee figures, but these have not yet been checked with the schools, so we have not used them either. Ask each school for a written first-year cost, including admission, security, annual charges and board registration and exam fees. BISE Rawalpindi's website posts its admission and fee schedules, including the one for the SSC Second Annual 2026 exam.

Marks matter less than several other things. Board fit comes first: BISE and FBISE are separate boards with their own papers and schedules, so ask before moving a child from one to the other. Science or General group matters too. In the 2026 gazette, regular Science candidates passed at 72.56% and regular General candidates at 60.31%, and many schools entered only Science students. Single-sex or mixed classes matter to many families, and BISE's list records separate boys' and girls' entries for many schools. Continuity is worth asking about if you want your child to stay on for FSc or ICS. Finally, try the actual commute at school time before you commit.
