Best Matric Schools in Quetta (2026): Board Results, Fees & Parent Checklist

Search for the best Matric schools in Quetta and you mostly find lists of familiar names with no method behind them. This guide starts instead with what the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) published about its 2026 Matric exam, adds two official lists we counted ourselves, and is plain about what cannot yet be compared school by school. Start with what the board does not publish. We found no institution-wise result table on BBISE's website. Its result portal looks up one candidate at a time by roll number, and the result gazettes it posted for the SSC 2nd Annual exam list candidates by roll number without naming their schools. Its Affiliated Institutes page, when we opened it on 28 September 2026, named only four institutions: Cadet College Mastung, Iqra Residential School & College, the Pak Turk Maarif schools on Spiny Road in Quetta, and The Ideal Academy in Panjgur district. So there is no public way to see how many candidates a particular Quetta school entered or how many passed. The board's 2026 performance report says researchers may contact it for its detailed digital report.

BBISE held the SSC Annual exam from 12 February to 7 March 2026 and announced the result on 7 May. Class 9 (SSC Part-I) and Class 10 (SSC Part-II) are examined and reported separately. Across the board, 77,251 candidates appeared in Class 10 and 69,002 passed, a pass rate of 89.32%. Science candidates passed at 91.59% and Humanities candidates at 75.66%. In Class 9, 50,400 of 68,517 passed (73.56%), with Science at 73.91% and Humanities at 36.86%. ProPakistani and APP reported the same totals. A supplementary exam, the SSC 2nd Annual, ran from 16 July to 11 August, and the board announced its result on 25 September 2026.

The figures closest to Quetta are the board's branch tables. The result notification splits every group by eight branches: Quetta, Turbat, Loralai, Khuzdar, Dera Murad Jamali, Zhob, Rakhshan and Sibi. The board does not say which districts each branch covers, so the Quetta branch is not the same thing as Quetta city. Adding the notification's Science and Humanities rows, we count 27,512 Class 10 candidates in the Quetta branch, more than a third of the board's total, of whom 23,281 passed (84.62%). Candidates in the other seven branches passed at 91.92%, and every other branch was above 89%. The gap is wider in Class 9: the Quetta branch passed 15,203 of 25,552 candidates (59.5%), against 81.92% elsewhere. In the Quetta branch's Class 9 Science group, girls passed at 57.81% and boys at 61.37%; in Class 10 Science the two were almost level, at 86.84% and 86.89%.

In July 2026 the board also published an infographic performance report on the Science group, taking Classes 9 and 10 together. Its totals differ slightly from the result notification (it counts 132,235 candidates and an 82.90% pass rate), so we use it only for the patterns it describes. It found Quetta the weakest of Balochistan's districts, at 68.78%, and the weakest for government and semi-government institutions. The board offered two possible readings: a system-level problem in Quetta's schools, and a view it describes as commonly held, that exam supervision in Quetta is stricter than elsewhere. It suggested that the School Education Department carry out formal research into the cause, noted that several low-performing institutions are concentrated in Quetta, and recommended a Quetta academic recovery plan.

The report also compares sectors. Government institutions had 89,240 Science candidates, 67.5% of the total, and passed 82.4% of them, with average marks of 65.8%. Private institutions had 40,678 candidates, passed 83.3% and averaged 68.0%. The small semi-government group, which the report describes as the Balochistan Residential Colleges (BRCs) and cadet colleges, had 2,317 candidates, passed 95.4% and averaged 80.8%. The board warned that the combined pass rate rose from 70.40% in 2025 to 82.90% in 2026 while average marks rose by only 0.44 points. It also recommended reporting institutions with fewer than 50 candidates separately rather than comparing them directly with high-volume ones, and a ranking method that accounts for candidate numbers, so that a small cohort reaching 100% does not automatically outrank a large one that performs consistently well.

Toppers say little about a whole school, but they show where the strongest marks came from. The board's list of the top 20 positions names 55 candidates, because many tied. By our count, 26 studied at BRC Loralai, 19 at BRC Zhob, 8 at Girls Cadet College Quetta and 2 at Govt Bismillah Khan Kakar High School, Habibzai. First place, with 1,051 marks, went to a student of BRC Loralai, and second, with 1,050, to a student of BRC Zhob. Girls Cadet College Quetta, on Spiny Road, was the only institution on the list with Quetta in its name; its highest-placed student was fourth, with 1,045 marks, and the report's chart of high-performing institutions put its average marks at 87.19%. The board's report credits merit-based admission and structured, closely monitored learning for these institutions' results, so they tell a family little about an ordinary day school. We have not repeated students' names.

A second board matters in Quetta. BBISE's About page says its jurisdiction covers Balochistan except institutions in cantonments that are administered by cantonment boards. On the Federal Board's (FBISE) affiliated list we counted 28 entries at SSC level with Quetta addresses, leaving out an FC Public School in Muslim Bagh and a technical training centre in Kharan whose entries also mention Quetta. Fourteen have Quetta Cantt in the address, including three Army Public School entries, four F.G. public schools, two Garrison Academy campuses, the two Cantt Public institutions, a Fauji Foundation Model School and two campuses of The City School. The rest include a second Fauji Foundation Model School, Fazaia Inter College, two Frontier Corps schools, three TCF campuses, two Educators campuses, the Pak-Turk Maarif girls' campus on Quarry Road, Leaders' Odyssey School, Jinnah Elite School, A-One City Model High School on Brewery Road and Girls Cadet College Quetta. Results for students who sit FBISE papers are not in BBISE's figures. Girls Cadet College Quetta is on FBISE's list and also in BBISE's 2026 position list, so ask any school which board its Class 10 students currently sit.

Government institutions carry most of Balochistan's Science-group Matric candidates: 67.5% of them in the board's report. The School Education Department's school list, dated 30 July 2026, counts 592 government schools in Quetta district, of which 118 are high schools and 16 higher secondary schools. The department codes 55 of those 134 as boys' schools and 79 as girls' schools. Its list does not give results or the board a school uses, so for a government high school the questions are the same as for a private one: which board, which groups are taught in Classes 9 and 10, and how the school's students did.

For a private school, ask about registration. The Balochistan Education Foundation says that since 2015 it has served as the province's Private Educational Institutions Registration and Regulatory Authority under an Act of the provincial assembly, and that it registered around 1,230 private institutions before a new Act was promulgated in 2022. We did not find a searchable public register of Quetta's registered private schools, so ask the school for its registration certificate and its BBISE or FBISE affiliation, and check that both name the campus you are visiting.

SchoolNama's own Quetta data cannot do this filtering for you yet, and we would rather say so. We hold 28 Quetta listings, all of them basic profiles: 20 in Cantt, 5 in Satellite Town and 3 in Jinnah Town. 22 have no curriculum recorded. The six tagged Matric are all government institutions, but four are colleges by name and one is a primary school, so the tag is a rough guide at best. Two listings we record as private co-ed schools, GBHS Haji Ghaibi Road and G B H S Sabzal Road, share their names with government boys' high schools on the School Education Department's list, which suggests, by our reading, that our records are wrong. A few listings, such as the Boys Scouts Association's Quetta headquarters and a medical sciences institute, are not schools. Several of our listings, including APS Seven Streams, Garrison Academy on Musa Road and A One City Model High School, share names with entries on FBISE's list; we have not confirmed that they are the same campuses.

Fees are where the evidence is thinnest. SchoolNama holds no fee record for any Quetta listing, and we have not quoted figures from aggregator sites because we could not trace them to the schools. What we can cite is the board's own charge. BBISE's notification for the SSC Annual exam 2027 sets the exam fee at Rs 3,000 for Class 9 or Class 10 alone, and Rs 4,000 for both together or for Class 10 with failed or improvement papers from Class 9, plus Rs 1,500 registration for unregistered candidates. Forms without a late fee were due by 2 September 2026. Double fee applied until 18 September, triple fee runs until 30 September, after which the board adds Rs 100 a day, and it will accept no forms after 23 November 2026. Ask each school for a written first-year cost covering admission, security, monthly and annual charges, and whether board fees are included.

Marks matter less than several other things. Board fit comes first: an FBISE cantonment school and a BBISE school prepare students for different papers and timetables. Science or Humanities matters too; in the Quetta branch, Class 10 Humanities boys passed at 65.99%, against 86.89% for Science boys. The weak Class 9 results make the first Matric year the one to ask about, including how the school helps students who fail Class 9 papers, which the board lets them retake alongside Class 10. Commute matters too. SchoolNama does not yet list any pick-and-drop providers or tutors in Quetta, so ask each school about its own vans and try the journey at school time.
