Best Matric Schools in Bahawalpur (2026): Board-Wide Results, Fees & Parent Checklist

Most online lists of the best Matric schools in Bahawalpur put schools in an order without saying where the order comes from. We looked for something a parent could check: a school-by-school table of Class 10 candidates and passes published by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bahawalpur. On 29 September 2026 we could not find one on the board's own website. What the board does publish is a searchable list of the schools it affiliates, which records each one's tehsil, whether it is for boys or girls, and whether it is government or private. This guide reads that list alongside the Federal Board's list and the 2026 headline figures ProPakistani reported from the board's result gazette. First, what we could not get. BISE Bahawalpur's website links notices, date sheets, fee notifications and older position-holder lists, yet on 29 September 2026 none of those pages linked to its 2026 Class 10 result gazette or any institution-wise result table. Its online result service looks up one candidate at a time, and its own 'Passing Percentage SSC' page stops at 2018. Copies of the 2026 gazette circulate on sites not run by the board, and we have not used them. So this guide gives no pass rate for any individual school. For each school on your shortlist, request its 2026 Class 10 figures on paper: the number of students it sent to the exam and the number who passed.

The board's headline figures are clear enough. According to ProPakistani's report of the gazette, 97,640 candidates applied for the SSC (Class 10) First Annual Examination 2026, 96,245 appeared and 63,012 passed, a pass rate of 65.47%. ProPakistani says the board declared the result at 10 a.m. on 6 August 2026. The board covers three districts, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, and these figures are for all three together. ProPakistani's comparison of Punjab's nine boards placed Bahawalpur sixth, and gave a combined Punjab pass rate of 68.72%; by our subtraction, Bahawalpur was 3.25 points below it.

The breakdown matters more than the headline. In the Science Group, which 85,488 of the 96,245 candidates sat, 66.17% passed; in the Humanities Group, 59.91%. Candidates who sat through a school did far better than private candidates: 74.97% of regular Science candidates passed, against 42.80% of private ones. Adding the two groups' reported figures together (our calculation, not a figure ProPakistani states), 74.03% of 69,986 regular candidates passed and 42.66% of 26,259 private candidates. Girls outperformed boys, 75.17% to 57.62% in Science and 64.15% to 41.27% in Humanities. A board-wide rate that mixes school-going and private candidates says little about any one school.

Top positions are a thin guide to a whole school, but they are the only school-level result we could find reported for 2026. According to ProPakistani's report of the board's provisional position-holder list, the overall first and second places went to students of Govt. Abbasia Higher Secondary School, Bahawalpur, with 1,186 and 1,184 marks out of 1,200. Third place was shared on 1,183 marks by students of Ummul Qura Public Girls High School and Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Model Town (A). All three schools are on the board's affiliated list for Bahawalpur tehsil. The top three boys in the Humanities Group all sat as private candidates. We have not repeated any student's name.

The affiliated list is where Bahawalpur's Matric schools can be counted. Filtered to Bahawalpur district and to SSC institutions, the board's list on 29 September 2026 held 510 entries: 239 recorded as male and 271 as female, and 233 government and 277 private. The list's gender filter offers only male and female, so every entry is marked one or the other, and several private groups hold separate boys' and girls' entries, including Allied School, Dar-e-Arqam, Roots Ivy International, Ummul Qura Public and Dominican Convent. Beaconhouse School System has one boys' and one girls' entry in Bahawalpur, and Sadiq Public School has a higher secondary entry for boys and one for girls. We found no The City School entry on the board's SSC list for the district. Colleges and higher secondary schools also appear on a separate 161-entry intermediate list, which we have not counted here.

The district is larger than the city. Of the 510 SSC entries, 194 are in Bahawalpur tehsil, 107 in Yazman, 104 in Hasilpur, 91 in Ahmadpur and 14 in Khairpur, going by the board's tehsil filter. Within Bahawalpur tehsil, 80 entries are government schools and 114 private. Parents weighing a government school can also look it up on the Punjab School Education Department's schools portal.

One detail in the list deserves a question. Its session column shows 'GOVT' for all but one government entry, while private entries mostly show a session between 2020-22 and 2026-28; two show 'Permanent'. In all, 130 private entries show 2026-28, while 38 show a session that ended before 2026. The board does not explain the column on that page, so we cannot say what an older session means for a particular school. Ask any private school to show you its current affiliation with BISE Bahawalpur for Classes 9 and 10.

Some well-known Bahawalpur schools sit a different board. FBISE's SSC is also a Matric qualification. Counting the Federal Board's (FBISE) affiliated list, we found 13 entries at SSC level in Bahawalpur district. Nine have Bahawalpur addresses: Army Public School and College's Noor Mahal Campus in the Cantt, four F.G. schools in the Cantt (F.G. Public School (Boys), F.G. Public School No. 1 for boys and for girls, and F.G. Girls Public High School in Bilal Colony), CB Public Girls High School & College in Model Town A, Fauji Foundation Model School on DHA Road, Rangers Public School & College at Desert Rangers headquarters, and a TCF girls' secondary school at Tibba Badar Sher. The other four are the Army Public Schools at Dera Nawab Sahib and Asrani, F.G. Abbas Public School at Dera Nawab Sahib and Rangers Public School, Yazman. None of these Army Public, F.G., Rangers or TCF entries appears on BISE Bahawalpur's SSC list, although several Army Public and Rangers colleges are on its intermediate list. BISE Bahawalpur's list does carry two 'Cantt Public Girls' entries in Bahawalpur, and we could not confirm whether either is the same institution as FBISE's CB Public Girls High School & College. Fauji Foundation's two schools in Hasilpur are on the BISE Bahawalpur list. Ask any school which board will set its Class 10 papers.

The Class 9 result is a warning for families whose child is now in Class 10. According to ProPakistani's report of the board's Class 9 gazette, announced on 2 September 2026, only 38.46% of 105,601 candidates passed the 2026 Class 9 exam. In Bahawalpur district, 13,181 of 34,200 candidates passed, 38.54%: 28.30% of boys and 47.72% of girls. Across the board, regular candidates from government institutions passed at 32.29% and those from institutions the gazette classes as affiliated at 58.48%. If your child has Class 9 papers to clear, ask the school how it will prepare them and when they will be retaken.

SchoolNama's own Bahawalpur records are too thin to sort schools by board, and parents should know that. SchoolNama holds 30 Bahawalpur listings, all of them basic profiles no school has claimed, and 21 have no curriculum recorded. All nine listings tagged Matric are public institutions, and four of those are colleges. None of our 19 private or two trust listings carries a curriculum, although Sadiq Public School and Allied School's Ahmad Campus, for example, both have entries on the board's SSC list. Our gender field is set by matching words in a name and falls back to co-ed, so 24 listings show as co-ed. Two listings tagged Matric are named Govt FG Boys School and Govt FG Girls School; the F.G. schools we found on the boards' lists sit FBISE, so a Matric tag on our pages does not tell you which board a school uses. A few listings, such as Virtual University, are not schools, and Sadiq Public School appears twice, once misspelt.

There is no school fee evidence we can stand behind. None of SchoolNama's Bahawalpur listings has a fee record, and fee figures on aggregator sites could not be traced back to any school, so we left them out. A school should be able to give you, on paper, what the first year will cost: admission, security, monthly tuition, annual charges and board fees. The board's own charges are published. For the 2026 Class 10 exam, notification No. 388 of 27 November 2025 set the admission fee for a regular Class 10 candidate at Rs 720 for Science (subjects with practicals) or Rs 670 for Arts, plus a Rs 730 processing fee and a Rs 300 development fund, and it notes that the Punjab government has exempted public-sector regular candidates from registration and exam fees. For Class 9 registration in the 2026-28 session, notification No. 1171 of 5 May 2026 set Rs 1,170 registration, Rs 730 processing, Rs 300 development, Rs 200 sports and Rs 120 scholarship fees per student, Rs 2,520 in all; government institutions do not pay the registration and sports parts. Under a revised schedule, a late fee of Rs 600 per student applied from 23 June to 7 July 2026.

A pass rate is only part of the picture. Which board a school uses matters first: an F.G. or Army Public School sitting FBISE and a BISE Bahawalpur school are working towards different papers on different timetables. The group matters too: in 2026 the Science and Humanities pass rates were about six points apart, and far fewer candidates sat Humanities. Because the board lists boys' and girls' entries separately, find out how the campus you visit organises Classes 9 and 10, and whether FSc or ICS is available there after Matric.
